Top 5 Fun Things to do in Waxahachie, TX

Waxahachie, TX is a small town with a big heart (and lots of fun activities and attractions) located within the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. While it’s fun and easygoing, residents are never too far from major downtown destinations along I-35 and Highway 287. If you find yourself in town, or you are thinking about moving here, here are the top 5 fun things to do in Waxahachie, TX that you are sure to enjoy.

Fun Things to Do in Waxahachie, TX

1) Explore Historic Architecture

Waxahachie is called The Gingerbread City because its historic architecture is so sweet! Back during the agricultural boom of the late 1800s and early 1900s, the town underwent a lot of growth, and large neighborhoods were planned and built with Victorian-style homes. Many of those beautiful homes remain today, and can be seen either by driving the neighborhoods, or by taking a guided tour

2) Catch Fish and a Sunset at Lake Waxahachie

The beautiful, clear-water Lake Waxahachie has some of the best fishing in North Texas. Launch your own boat on one of three paved ramps and catch your fill of largemouth bass, white bass, blue catfish, channel catfish, and crappie. When the ice chest is full, you do not have to head home just yet. At Spring Park you can enjoy a bit of swimming and catch a beautiful sunset before packing up for the day.

3) Festivals Year Round

It is festival season all year long in Waxahachie! Bring the whole family along for different themed festivals including:

4) Visit the Munster Mansion

Schedule a visit to the Munster Mansion... if you are feeling lucky. This private residence was recreated, room-by-room, from the house featured in the popular 60s show. There are replicas of furniture and accessories, and even some original items from the show itself. Its owners offer private tours and a Murder Mystery experience, both of which must be booked and paid in advance.

5) Shop at the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market

Once an agricultural spot, the Waxahachie area is still home to a variety of produce grown on acres of fertile farmland - and you can find it all at the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market. The market features fresh and brightly colored fruit and vegetables along with farm-fresh eggs, baked goods, jams, and handmade jewelry and crafts. It is held Saturday mornings, rain or shine, from April to October on Howard Road. Now is the perfect time to visit and explore the entertainment in Waxahachie, TX.

If you are looking for a town that is big on charm but just far enough away from the busyness of downtown Dallas and Fort Worth, Waxahachie is the perfect place to settle down. At Sheppard’s Place, a new community with move-in ready homes or your choice of 20 different floor plans, you can take advantage of nearby schools and top employers while enjoying Waxahachie’s historical charm. Contact us today at 866-409-1949 to schedule a personal tour of these brand new homes.

What Our
Homeowners
Are Saying

I still love the size of the home I bought for the money. I love how big each room is and that we never feel cramped, and for a fraction of what our friends paid to be in the same size home in other areas. We can still afford to travel, eat out, and do what we like, so I recommend HistoryMaker to all my money-minded friends!
