Located on land donated by a real railroad company, the museum tells the story of Fort Bend County’s transportation past. Visitors can browse a large collection of artifacts, maps, photographs, and memorabilia, and see a passenger coach from 1879, among other displays.
The Great Outdoors
Rosenberg offers plenty of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the unique landscape of Southeast Texas! Brazos Bend State Park is close by and offers an ultimate outdoor experience where you can fish, picnic, horseback ride, camp, and even geocache. There are 37 miles of trails, some of which are wheelchair -friendly, so the whole family is able to get out and enjoy the abundant fresh air and sunshine. Seabourne Creek Nature Park is a 164-acre nature and wetlands preserve with a beautiful Butterfly Garden, Prairie Garden, Wetland Pond with fishing, Bird Sanctuary, and Arboretum. It's a great outdoor learning environment for both kids and adults.
Historic Homes Tour
Fort Bend County has a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century, and several homes from the era have been preserved or restored to their original states, and are now available for the public to view on a historic walking tour. The John M. Moore Home of 1883 is a neo-classical mansion furnished with period fixtures and furniture. The frontier-style Long-Smith Cottage was built in 1855 on land once owned by Jane Long, the "Mother of Texas," and is furnished with many of her possessions. McFarlane House is a two-story home built between 1882 and 1883 for a wealthy merchant and his family. The home has been restored to its original ornate state and is open to visitors.
